Skills and Qualities

I am a very keen and enthusiastic 22 year old. I graduated from the university of Salford with a 2:1 in Broadcast journalism in 2024. In my time at university I won a BJTC award for Best Podcast. I am a leader at my local brownie unit, this gives me the skills to work well with children and also be responsible. I am very well organised and have an excellent record of punctuality and attendance. I have been working since I was 16 mainly in customer service based roles, I have always enjoyed going to work and believe I am a very driven hardworking person. I also enjoy travelling, shopping and spending time with my family and friends in my spare time.

Work Experience

2019-2022: Village Gym:

Lifeguard/Receptionist: From this job I have developed more skills in working with the public. I would run the reception for the leisure area as well as lifeguard the pool and maintain the cleaning standards around the leisure facilities.

2022-2024: Next:

Person in charge: In my two years at next I have progressed from a sales assistant to the role of person in charge. I now have the responsibility of opening and closing the store, doing the banking and till lifts as well as opening and closing the store and managing the store for short periods of time. This role has given me experience in managing a team and expanded my customer service skills.

2024-Present: Freelance:

Journalist: I have done freelance work for a variety of companies in a variety of mediums. I have worked with Metro Radio in Newcastle, as well as regularly appearing on BBC Radio 5 reviewing the mornings papers. I also featured on the Radio 5 first time voters panel ahead of the general election in 2024. As well as that I have worked created pieces for a variety of local news papers and independent magazines including the Oldham Chronicle, Tameside Reporter, Tameside Radio, Salford Now, Quays News, Go Inspire and Only a Northern One.

2025-Present: Tameside Reporter and Tameside Radio:

Community Reporter: I started working at Not Really Here Media Group in April 2025. Since then I have written at least 10 stories a week for online. I also helped create pages for the print paper on InDesign. In my first month I grew the Facebook engagement by 111% to over two million views in 28 days. I reported on protests, court cases, human interest stories and events. I also wrote and read out news bulletins and helped to create content and produce a radio show weekly.
